In light of the recent increase in community spread of Covid throughout the Dunedin region, and in the interests of the safety of riders, supporters and family members, we need to rethink the way racing operates and ensure events can continue in a safe manner and achieve Covid protocols.
From Monday’s Monday Night Racing forward (28 February), there will no longer be gatherings for briefings, sign on and prizegivings etc. Online entry will be required, and we discourage entering on the day, this will put added pressure on the Race Manager. Briefing details will be included as part of the registration process, which you will need to read and agree to as part of the entry process. Names and numbers will be checked off at the start line. The bonus is that you can just show up at the start line and off you go!
Please wear a mask when not racing, and be sure to sign-in on the covid tracer. And obviously, if you’re in any way symptomatic please stay away.
If we continue to experience the joy and outlet of riding/ racing, this will be a positive benefit not only for the overall health of the body but also the mind given all the other stresses at this time.
Thanks for your understanding,
Cycling Otago Executive Committee.
