Caleb Rollo had an outstanding performance at Seddon Park Velodrome on Tuesday night, taking out the junior handicap race. 9-year-old Rollo started with a handicap of 220m, and fellow roadster Olivia McDonald on 245m in the 6-lap race. The older juniors caught McDonald who put in a strong effort, but could not catch Rollo. Jody Syme rode hard and had Rollo in sight on the home straight, but ran out of time, crossing the line second, with James Gardner finishing third.
Jody Syme had a stellar evening, riding off the front in the point-a-lap race to take all but one point. Sam McDonald took the first sprint, eventually finishing in second ahead of Siân Remon in 3rd. Syme also dominated in the 5-lap scratch race, finishing ahead of Remon and Emma Howell.
Bradley White was outstanding in the junior A-grade, beating smooth riding by Madeleine Cooper-Forster and Mark McCormack to take out both the 6 and 8-lap scratch races. He could not take all 3 races however, with McCormack and then Cooper-Forster crossing the line ahead of him in the point-a-lap race.
James McKellar, won both A/B scratch races. In the 8-lap race McKellar and Ewan Syme attacked, splitting the field with 4 laps to go. Syme could not get there in the end and was passed by Bryony Telford and Craig Thorne. Syme stuck with McKellar in the 24-lap race and crossed the line second, ahead of Phoebe Swale.
Bryan Murray had strong competition in C grade, being beaten by Phoebe Swale and Ella Harris in the 6-lap scratch race. Harris also took out the elimination race, finishing ahead of Murray and new rider Julia Horsfield. Horsfield put up a strong sprint with Murray in the 16-lap scratch race, finishing a wheel length behind. Isla Anderson finished in third.
